The Summer Beauty Edit

It's officially Summer and for most, that means heaven. Long days, light nights, endless laughter and memories. It's the last chance for some to be "free" before returning to studies, for the unlucky one's of us who have to work, that means filling every spare second trying to earn some dollar. For those looking to be a little more experimental with their makeup choices this summer, I thought I'd chat through a few of my favourite products which have all been modeled on the beautiful Rachel - you can follow her Instagram here.

For me, this will always be a favourite, it's the perfect base for a lot of people and it's not difficult to see why. With a flawless and yet natural finish, it's the perfect hybrid of dewy skin and a demi-matte finish. Despite what the name would suggest, this is a medium and yet buildable coverage, I find it's great at colour correcting and brightening up my complexion and works for a number of different skin types whether you have oily, combination or dry skin - the shade selection available too is just incredible. I guarantee you're going to be able to find a shade that's the perfect match for you.

I honestly do not know why it's taken me so long to pick this beauty up, but I'm so glad that I did. I find this is the perfect addition to my stash on a day to day basis, and for those days I need to look extra put together. I love wearing this on it's own blended under my eyes for a little brightening and correcting, but I find it works incredibly layered over foundation too to provide that flawless finish we all crave for. It's lightweight, brightening without being too shimmery or dewy. I would honestly recommend this to everyone.

If you're a pale skin gal like myself, I can not recommend the NYX Blusher in the shade Taupe enough for a beautiful contour shade. I find it adds just enough warmth and depth to the skin without ever looking too heavy. I always receive so many compliments whenever I carve our my cheekbones with this beauty and it works beautifully in photographs too. Despite being a blusher, it has an extremely cool undertone making it perfect for contour, but you could definitely wear this as a blush too, especially if you have a darker skin tone.

Love. Love. Love. I don't really know what else to say to be honest! If you're looking for the perfect iridescent shade, I definitely recommend checking out the Prismatic Shadows by NYX, I have a few shades but Whimsical is definitely one of my favourites. It's a gorgeous icey purple shade with a soft shimmer - it's a super beautiful shade and the perfect introduction into colour if you're looking for a soft hue to sweep all over the lids. It's a very similar shade to Urban Decay "Tonic", but (dare I say) better - it's more pigmented, more long lasting, and even more buttery. Seriously, what's not to love?!

Time and time again I will always come back to this beauty, it's an absolute staple in my collection. If you're wanting glitter without it being too much, I definitely recommend these gorgeous shimmers. Each shade has a gorgeous iridescent base and is jam packed with shimmery goodness to create the most stunning illusion you've ever seen.

To enhance the gorgeous soft peach tones, fireball is another essential if you're wanting to branch out a little this summer. The shade looks beautiful toned down with some neutral hues, but it also looks stunning when paired with brighter, more daring pinks and glitters. I'm a huge fan of the Urban Decay eyeshadows and always have been, I find their formula's to be super easy to work with and extremely long lasting, and with so many shades to pick from, you can't really go wrong!

To really pack a punch a coloured liner is essential if you're looking or a liquid liner I would definitely recommend checking out NYX. If you can't tell, I'm a huge fan of NYX as a brand and find they're one of the only drugstore brands that really can compete with the high-end brands out there. Each liner is super pigmented and long lasting and this purple shade is absolutely stunning, especially with blue eyes.

NYX White Liquid liner is perfect to add highlights of detail within a look. Although this eyeliner has a tendency of cracking when it dries it's incredible for a more edgy detailed look. It can add more texture to the eye look and make it even more interesting. I love wearing it below my black winged liner to give a real sharp look...

These beauties have quickly become an essential in my makeup collection, both for day-to-day and evening wear. These are basically everything I hoped for the Urban Decay Moondust Liquid Eyeshadows would be - they're highly pigmented, extremely long lasting and so easy to work with. The colour selection is just stunning and they really do make an impact. They're basically 100% glittery goodness without the hassle and irritation of using actual glitter. Molton Midnight is a gorgeous dark and smokey glitter whilst Smouldering Satin is a beautiful light champagne toned shimmer. In the photographs, you'll be able to see Molton Midnight applied over a lipstick on the lips and then Smouldering Satin applied under the eyes and blended through the center of the lid for extra depth.

If you're looking for #highlightergoals then look no further, this cool toned beauty is exactly what you need. Swatched it doesn't look like much, but as soon as you apply it to the skin something magical happens -i'm completely smitten with the finish and find it creates a gorgeous glow to the skin. You can definitely tone it down to create a softer look, but for those a little braver, keep building until you shine like a diamond.

So, there you have it. My beauty edit - the products I'm absolutely loving this summer. There's a great selection and you definitely don't have to go all out on the colour straight away, but if you do, I guarantee you won't be disappointed. If you enjoy these posts with the combination of the beauty chat and the photography, let me know. I know it's a little different to the usual blog flat lays you see floating around on every blog...
