Mid-Year Favourites

The year is drifting by in a blink of the eye and I’m not sure how I really feel about that. It’s been a good year so far, but I’m determined to make it exception.  I thought as June marks the mid-way point in the year that I’d chat through a few of my favourites so far. I’m kind of passed the whole “monthly favourites” thing so thought this would be a cool way to keep you updated with my current loves. I’ll be honest in saying, this has been the year of the bases for me. In previous years I’ve really been into eyeshadow palettes and luscious lipsticks, but this year I’ve really discovered some fantastic products to help sort out my complexion.

The Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue is definitely a firm favourite of mine and has been for a while now. I think it’s pretty understandable and easy to see why; you’ll definitely see this beauty classic in the majority of your beauty influencers stash. It’s a low coverage foundation that somehow manages to balance out the pigments in your skin to leave you with the illusion of a flawless base. I took this base with me on my holiday to Mykonos and it doubled up perfectly as a face SPF which is definitely a massive bonus. Another foundation I’ve been loving is the Illamasqua Skin Base which is a slightly higher coverage, sitting comfortably as a medium foundation. You can definitely build up the coverage or make it more sheer depending on your person preferences. It’s also worth noting that the colour range is incredible and amazingly, I’m not even the palest shade. I find both foundations sit on the skin flawlessly and blend effortlessly into any other products you want to slap on your face.

I’ve tested out a few primers recently too and fell head over heels for the Urban Decay Optical Illusion Base primer. It smooths out the base effortlessly and creates a flawlessly smooth surface for you to apply your foundations onto. I’m definitely impressed – the majority of primers tend to break me out but it’s worth noting that this little gem hasn’t broken me out once! Another Urban Decay classic is the All Nighter Setting Spray* which has been a firm favourite of mine for a while, but after trying out the NYX offerings I guess I just kinda forgot about it. When the lovely gals at UD hit me up with another bottle it quickly made its way into my daily make up rotation.

Although this is a recent purchase it’s quickly made its way to cult status in my collection. I’ve been on the hunt for a perfect under the eye concealer for quite some time now and I think I’ve found the perfect offering. The Charlotte Tilbury Retoucher Pen concealer is an absolute dream, it applies beautifully and really helps to lift the under eye area while still offering great coverage.

I’ve had a massive clear out and cut down my makeup collection a lot… with that my blush collection has downsized leaving me with products I absolutely love and enjoy using. I rediscovered the Too Faced Love Flush Blush and I’m smitten. I’ve only really found myself reaching for this on a daily basis and I’m totally okay with that. The shade selection is absolutely stunning and I can definitely see myself adding a few more shades to my stash in the future. For the brows I’ve fallen head over heels for the NYX Tinted Brow Gel; I’d been using the UD offering for quite some time and fancied something new… the NYX offering is a billion times better and I would 100% recommend it to anyone looking for something to tame the brows and add a little pigment.

On the eyes I’ve really been enjoying using the Stila Magnificent Glitter & Glow. They’re basically incredible and so, so pigmented. If you’re into glitter without the mess and hassle that comes along with it, I definitely recommend checking out the Stila offerings. I have two shades now and I have my eye on a few more too… the collection is just stunning and I’ve heard that they’re going to be launching a few more soon too! My mascara love comes from Lancome. The Hypnose Drama mascara is just incredible if you’re looking for the perfect “all-rounder”.

I’m sure this will swap and change in the next few months and probably include a few more lipsticks and eyeshadows but for now I guess that’s it!

Definitely let me know what products you’re loving at the moment and if you’ve tried any of the above products

I really need to look back and see what amazing products I have discovered since the beginning of 2017.
I’d have to say the L’Oreal Cushion foundation off the top of my head!
