It's not what's under the tree that counts, it's who's around it.
As you get older I think the statement becomes more relevant, as the years go by, you really start to understand and appreciate the meaning of family, friendship, and love. It's not how many presents are under the tree that matters, it's the people who you're exchanging with, it's the thought that has gone into the exchange. Each year I'm astounded by the love that has gone into selecting my presents, and each year, I like to well and truly spoil my family. Whether we're on a budget or not. It's important to remember that a good Christmas doesn't have to cost the world, you don't have to buy that Xbox or that expensive bit of jewelry. While there's no denying that the gift exchange is nice, for me, Christmas is about making memories. Exchanging memories. Spending time with loved ones.
With all that being said, I'm a huge fan of documenting things. I'm the kind of person that still prints out photographs opposed to keeping them on a hard drive somewhere. I like to scrapbook, and I like to write. I wanted to do a What I Got For Christmas like I've done every other year so that I can look back on things.
I feel very spoilt this year, I'm astounded by the thought that's gone into my gifts, everyone has really hit the nail on the head and picked out presents that I absolutely love. My parents bought me some gorgeous boots from River Island that I've been lusting over for quite some time now. I'm a huge fan of boots and shoes, but I do struggle to justify spending money on them. I've been searching high and low to find some good quality pointed toe black boots for ages now, and the "Black Leather Western Buckle Strappy Boots" are exactly what I've been looking for. I also received the Keira Cami Set from Ann Summers which are just the most comfiest PJs ever. It's not Christmas if you don't receive new PJs/loungewear. I'd been looking at them for a while but there was no way I could justify spending £30 on something to sleep in. I'm beyond the moon that my mum remembered that I wanted them and decided to treat me to some. They definitely make a change from the usual Primark sleepwear I go for. Keeping in theme, I also received the most beautiful belted long sleeve dressing gown from Marks & Spencers. I already know I'm going to get so much use out of this.
My sister is literally the best thing since sliced bread at the moment after she bought me the Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette. I'm so unbelievably grateful that she was able to hunt it down for me. I've been lusting over it since it's initial launch but I just couldn't justify buying myself a new eyeshadow palette - I'm definitely in no need for any more makeup. When I finally decided that I was going to treat myself to it, it was sold out everywhere. She also picked up an Urban Decay Cream Lipstick in the shade Gash. This came apart of a UD Christmas set one year but it was a limited edition and only a miniature. I've been on the hunt for it, or something similar for ages.
Of course, I also received a massive selection of bath and shower products. My best friend bought me the Lush Christmas Bathtime Favourites which is just incredible. It includes 9 of their infamous bath bombs and I can not wait to start using these. Josh's parents also bought me a gift card to spend in Lush which I'm beyond excited about. It's safe to say, I probably have more Lush stock in my bedroom than more stores do right now. I also was bought a few bits from The Body Shop including their Frosted Berries Shower Gel, and their Mango collection, along with a few little bits from Sanctuary Spa.
I was going to include a few of the bits I picked up in the Boxing Day sales, however I think this post is long enough. Instead I'll upload a little haul of additional bits and bobs within the next few days!
